The Land of the WIPs!

Starting my journey to organize and destash my yarn. This area is stressful; the opposite of what i want from my most loved area in my home.

My plan: step 1

Divide out WIPS, UFOs, yarn scraps, and new/whole skeins of yarn. This took me a whole day. I finished one purse and frogged a pair of socks. The purse

was supposed to be a wedding present but that was 3 years ago. So.. i frogged it, redesigned and finished it. I also finished a Deadpool C2C afghan. I gave my best to the socks but no. Then moved to next step.

Step 2.

Separate out yarn weight and fiber. I have mostly worsted yarns but I’ve got quiete a few fingering weight. This is most of what I use. I have a lot of assumed acrylics that my relatives got from yard sales. I through away yarn that wasn’t good. Really rough, stained, or falling apart. The rest went up on my yarn board. (Shown below). On the left by the window are my leftover yarn. After I finish a project I take the scraps and wrap them into hanks.

Step 3

Container method concept. Now i must get rid of everything that doesn’t fit into this space. Ok deal. So I designed projects for anything left out, took yarn off wall that would go with them, and filled in the holes. I ended up with a total of 7 new projects. (Not really what I needed) but i digress. Put them in project bags. And got started.

Step 4

Done and complete all projects. Yay! That brings me to a total of 13 projects. For me thats a lot. And wa-la. I have a somewhat organized craft area again.
