Memorial Cardigan

Currently I’m finishing up on a cardigan that I was going to make for my mom. She died before I could make it. In her honor, I still wanted to create it but redesigned it to my size and changed the colors a little so they were a combination of what we like.

The original light pink color that my mom would have loved and a deep teal color that I love. I was going to use a different shade of pink. Its just a basic pattern because I’m a beginner when it comes to cardigans. I’ve only knitted one sweater before and it was in pieces and sewn up. No, I’m not doing that again I hate sewing things up. I just want to knit, that is all. It’s a raglan construction and I used uneven stripes. It is cropped just above the waist because I only had so much yarn. The sleeves fall just below the elbow… or they will after I get them done.

It’s not really my style but I like it and I can wear it and remember my mom. Its coming along slowly. Crocheting sweaters is super quick but maybe that’s just because my crochet skills and knitting skills aren’t on the same level. I am focusing on this as my main project with small projects when it gets overwhelming. I focus on getting so much done a day like one stripe, something small and attainable. Sometimes it gets away from me and I complete 4 stripes while watching tv and playing with the kids. I knit in the breaks when they are distracted by each other, their father, or food. I’m getting through it slow and steady. Try to pick a project you’ve been trying to get finished and use small stepping stones to complete it. Once you’re on a roll, you’ll find it much easier to complete other projects as well.

…I will update when the cardigan is finished.
