Someone asked me to make a halter top for their daughter’s birthday. Never having done a piece for pay before, I was hesitant to say yes. But …
I did of course its for a birthday. We picked out a cute halter pattern so on brand as it was knitted and crocheted. We picked out some cotton yarn. She wanted a neutral two color top. The top was a cream and the bottom was a cream and brown. It turned out really pretty.

The stress of a commission piece was not a wonderful experience. I couldn’t get it done in the time I wanted; admittedly my time table was unrealistic for someone with 2 young kids and a full time job on top of it. However, I took 3 more days than I originally intended to finish the project.
Fshoo. I learned a valuable lesson. I cannot focus on one thing for too long it makes me feel this pressure that is crushing. On day 7, I took a break and crocheted bear hats for my children.

Bernat Bear hat by Sarah Zimmerman in size child. It’s so cute!
Boom! I was renewed and was able to really work on the project like I wanted to. Apparently, I just needed a little break so that it would feel like the fun activity that I picked up the hooks for.

I am happy with the piece. However, I have this feeling of impending doom that my ends will unravel at any minute. And then of course the world will end. I don’t make the rules!
I had a lot of problems with this pattern and had to rework some parts. So if you’ve tried this pattern or are going to, let me know if you switched up any of the pattern to make it work. ??
