September Baby Blanket

I got an invite to a friend’s baby shower in September so I looked at the registry. However, I couldn’t afford anything so I went to plan B. Then I remembered, I love to crochet baby blankets and I had a pattern in queue on Revelry.

I’m going to make a baby blanket for her little one in corner to corner granny squares. I looked at the yarn the pattern called for and I didn’t want to pay that and wait for shipping. It was done in Hobbii’s horizon for 22 dollars. So, plan B again.

While I’m looking for yarn to purchase that I could pick up in store, I decided to go with solid colors instead. Then I thought maybe go with the theme of the shower.

She is having a Naruto themed baby shower so I asked a friend what colors that would be.

Bam! Next steps!! I pulled up my Stitchfiddle and started designing. I tried the colors in a swirl, in stripes, both small and large. But…. I was just not feeling any of the designs.

So. My sister in law sent me a picture of Naruto for reference. And then I did stripes in the way of his outfit. Is it awkward? Maybe. Is it super cool? Why yes, yes it is.

In my gauge 4” is 5×5 squares, this blanket is 30” x 30”. I used a value yarn: Big Twist value by Joanne’s. For those of you that have not tried it yet, in my opinion it’s okay; Could be better, could be worse.

Next baby blanket I’m going to try Cascade Pacific. But this blanket turned out rather nice. If I do say so myself.
