I Love shawls, I can wear them on top of clothing for fashion, pop of color, or because I’m cold. They are also easy to crochet, knit, individualize. So, as a crafter, they are my cup of tea. I have made several different shawls but, I want a pretty shawl pattern. I’m looking for a shawl with holes but still warm, pretty and can help dress up plain clothes, and that drapes nicely and I can wear it as I’d like.
If you are also looking for a shawl with a pattern that isn’t so complex that you’ll get lost in the 20 row repeat. Hey, some of us don’t have that kind of attention span, hence me. This might be what you’re looking for.
I love the colors of this shawl. It was created in Worsted, or 4 weight yarn. So, its warm but still has a nice pattern that was fun to work up. There is a 6 row repeat. That’s just enough to keep me interested but I could also mindless crochet throughout the day.
The Shawl-tastic Pattern
Supplies:
Worsted weight yarn (Yarn Bee Sugarwheel yarn in color 69 Gelato’s My Motto.) 2 skeins
Crochet hook size J or 6.00 mm
Darning needle and scissors.
Ch 4 or magic circle to start. Then place 3 DC (US terms), Ch 2, 3DC.
**Row 2: Ch 3 and turn (counts as first DC), DC in same stitch, DC to ch st, 2DC ch2 2DC in chain space, DC until 1 st from end. 2DC in last st.
Row 3: Ch 3 and turn (counts as first DC), skip the next DC, DC in next stitch, repeat until ch 2 space, 2DC ch2 2DC in chain space, repeat until 2 st left.
Row 4: Ch 1 and turn, SC until chain space, 2Sc ch2 2Sc in chain space, SC until end.
Row 5: Ch 3 and turn, DC in first SC, SK 1 *Sc, 3DC Sk 2, 3DC repeat from * until chain space, 3DC Ch2 3DC in chain space, Repeat * until 2 from end sk 1, 2DC in last st.
Row 6: Repeat Row 5
Repeat rows 2-6 until desired length or until almost out of yarn.
Final Row: Crabstitch to end.
